Swimming Pool
These clients approached us to liaise with a swimming pool fitter who was installing a new swimming pool in their rural garden. They wanted to be able to use the pool year-round and so required an insulated building to enclose the pool.
Most challenging was scheduling the works as each specialist sub-contractor needed to be allowed access at appropriate times throughout the build without interfering with other works progressing around the site. With the initial excavation groundworks complete, and the pool shape defined with a concrete shell, the Hutchinsons team moved on to site to set structural steel poles around the perimeter of the pool, together with a ring of engineering bricks set to support the building’s wall clear of the adjacent ground level.
As normal, we had pre-built insulated SIPS panels in our workshop which were delivered and erected on site before mounting custom roof trusses along the length of the building to support the tiled roof. The interior of the building was clad in a specially commissioned tongue and groove board which was then thermally treated to protect it from early deterioration in the damp environment.
With the swimming pool finished and operational, we finished the project with some rare, striated sandstone flagstones laid around the pool surround within the building, and across the front of the building to create a generous sun terrace to relax and entertain guests. The two 4.5m bi-fold doors allow the front of the building to open up allowing freedom of movement and creating a more open feel when using the pool in the summer months.
